At HFUMC, we embrace the Safe Sanctuaries program, a movement dedicated to raising awareness and preventing abuse within the United Methodist Church.
Our commitment to this program is to ensure the safety of our children, vulnerable adults, and volunteers. To become an active volunteer at HFUMC, there are four simple steps to follow:
1. Fill out a volunteer application and undergo a background check.
2. Attend a Safe Sanctuaries Training event every 3-5 years.
3. Obtain clearance on your background check if you are 18 years or older.
4. Receive relevant training for your desired volunteer roles.
As part of our efforts, we will be hosting both in-person and virtual training sessions this fall for new and current volunteers nearing their training expiration date. This may be the only chance to attend this training in the near future, so we encourage you to register and join us for one of the upcoming sessions. The more individuals who are cleared and trained, the safer our community becomes for everyone. Your participation is valuable and greatly appreciated!
