Wednesday Mornings
Christian Believer: Knowing God with Heart and Mind (Continued from Fall)
9:00-Noon
Jesus told the disciples to “cast deep” to catch fish. When it comes to exploring the hard and easy issues of what we believe as Jesus-followers, many of us fish in shallow waters. For God to form your spirit, you need to give God some raw material. Take the plunge and cast deep in this 31 week study that is halfway through. Daily reading.

The Transforming Friendship
6:30-TBD by class
As apprentices we want to become like Christ but sometimes get discouraged. Quaker James Bryan Smith insists it's not that we're not trying. It's just that we're not training. We have the will but need the power. This nine week class uses the first book of an apprenticeship series to help us access God's power for transformation, beginning with what we believe about God and how that makes a difference. Daily practices.
A testimony: Craig participated in the apprenticeship experiment to develop this this curriculum for Christlikeness. After a while he started noticing changes in the way he treated people in his life. Other people started noticing too. When a friend commented on it in the middle of a diffilcult situation, Craig said, "You know, you're right... I know who I am and I know where I am. I am a person in whom Christ dwells, and I live in the Kingdom of a God who loves me and is caring for me... I'm frustrated but I'm still at peace..." Transformation happens.

Sisters - A Mile in Her Shoes: A Bible Study for Women
6:30-8:00 Begins Jan. 20
Life in ancient times was a struggle for survival, many times removed from the relaxed, comfortable existance most of us enjoy today. For women especially, simply living often meant enduring a harsh society that viewed women as voiceless entities more like property thatn persons. Still, faith blossomed and thrived. Connect and apply Scriptures about six inspirational women in the Old Testament to your daily life and mature in faith as you walk in their shoes. Sisters is a video-based Bible study that speaks to women's hearts. Daily readings in this six week study.

"What the Bible Is"
6:30-7:30 Begins Jan. 20
Some people write the Bible off. Some people worship Scripture like they worship God. Do either of these positions have merit? What is the Bible? Dr. Shriver, an ordained retired religion professor, says Scripture is like the Church, an instrument of God to lead us to the truth of God. Identifying at least twelve things that Scripture is helps us better use Scripture to let God lead us. Come, engage these ideas. See what you think.
